The Erasmus+ project SIEQUA-VET – Micro-credentials Training for Building Operators on Sustainable Indoor Environmental Quality officially started with its two-day kick-off meeting on 20–21 March 2025 in Cyprus. The meeting was hosted by PHOEBE Research and Innovation Ltd with the participation of partners from Cyprus, Greece and Bulgaria.
Over the course of the meeting, partners agreed on the project’s objectives, results, milestones, and activities. Discussions focused on the development of a modern training curriculum with micro-credentials, aligned with European recommendations, to provide building operators with knowledge and skills on sustainable indoor environmental quality. The consortium also explored the design of digital learning objects, integration of certificates and badges through the learning management system (Opigno), and the creation of interactive simulation scenarios to support training.
The partners highlighted the importance of ensuring that the training modules are ECVET-compliant and deliver recognised, competence-based qualifications rather than certificates of attendance. Stakeholder input was gathered during the second day of the meeting, with contributions from the Cyprus Sustainable Tourism Initiative (CSTI) and Lelantus Innovations Ltd, who emphasised the relevance of indoor air quality solutions and stakeholder engagement.
The meeting concluded with a clear action plan: partners will first deliver a desktop research report and the skeleton structure of the training modules by spring 2025, followed by progress reviews every two months. The next face-to-face (informal) meeting is scheduled to take place in Lesvos, Greece in October 2025.
The kick-off set a strong foundation for the project, ensuring all partners are aligned in their mission to provide innovative vocational training that strengthens sustainability and quality in the built environment.
